668 Have been on here a while

Hi everyone,
Have been on here a while and have posted a few questions and read loads but it would be really helpful if someone could write a guide to understanding the Italian way so that we can buy our little dream house in the Puglia region. Although there is masses of info on here, the web and books, it looks as though every area is different and it's not what you know but who you know. Our little dream is very similar to Licciana in Why Italy thread but we fully understand as Charles put it

"John depicts a somewhat sceptical, albeit true picture of the darker side of Italy. But that is part and parcel of everyday life here in Italy. Again, if you look at what happened in Italy during the Middle Ages for example, you can see that power, bribery, corruption and nepotism were, among other things, characteristic elements of society during those turbulent times. Things today are not as bleak as they may seem. Just different! You just have to learn to adapt (the same applies anywhere you go) and to set your expectations realistically. Don’t come to Italy expecting the system to be the same as it is back home".

and we do wish to intigrate into the Italian way of life but it is a catch 22 situation, we need to be there all the time to learn but at the moment all we want is our little place in the sun.

Anyone who has moved to the Puglia area and can give us an idiots guide we would be very grateful.

Hi Polly

We could do with one too! Take it you are still looking. We are still trying to get answers from the agent and she's English! If and when we get through this we will get back to you about what we have learnt.
