1208 Help with taxes

This is my 1st post, so please forgive me if I got it in the wrong place.
I have been living in Italy (Marche) since just before Xmas 2004 and I think I've managed to overcome most of the hurdles with registering and paying the various taxes, but would be grateful if anyone could tell me if I've missed anything out!!

I have registered for ICI and Rifuti at the Comune.
I bought a new car and went to the local ACI office to pay the 1st year fees.
I have received a bill from RAI for my TV licence and paid it.

I've paid the 1st installment of ICI that was due in June, but have not heard anything about the Rifuti yet.

My questions are:
1 Am I supposed to proactively seek out to pay the Rifuti or do I just wait for a bill, or I do I need to go to the commercalista?

2 I have heard that in future years with my car tax I can pay it at any Tabacchi instead of going to the ACI office. Is this correct? If yes, I assume I will receive a bill through the mail?

3 Can anyone think of any other bills/taxes I must pay? I've heard there's something called Housewife's Tax???

Many thanks for your help.

if you look under Utilities Heading, there is a post from Cristina which gives a link to her site. This gives you a good list of all bills and how and when they need to be paid. Hope this helps... :) I'm sure the Forum will be useful to you...I don't know what we would have done without it !!!!!

The link is under the heading :' getting more and more confused about paying those bills'- posted by Alex and Lyn ( that's us !!!!)

You need to be proactive with your taxes,
ask your comune ref rifuti
You can pay your car tax at tabacci, you will NOT receive any notification your bank can also take payment in many cases.
again with ICI you should register annually to pay it.

Thanks for those replies. I'll visit the website you mention and have a look.
Thanks also for the tip about asking the Comune about Rifuti, I'll pop in when I get home next week.
Best regards
Richard

From what I have been able to find out for the rifiuti, once you have registered with the comune for this they will send you a bill in September. If you do not get a bill then go by and see what the problem is.

GeorgeS, what do you mean by "again with ICI you should register annually to pay it."

Thanks Cristina.
I also had a look at your website is is very interesting, good job!
