Good news - I have been granted 'agreement in principle' for a mortgate in Italy. Now I just have to find a place.
So, as I will have to work for a few years to pay off the mortgage, and that is better done here than in Italy, I figured it would be best to invest in an apartment in or near one of the cities in the hopes that there is a good rental market in Italy.
Could anyone confirm or corroborate whether there is a decent rental market in the larger Italian cities? Also, if there are any pitfalls (other than squatting) that I should bear in mind, please tell.
Thanks.

If you don't rent it out through an agent aren't you supposed to be licensed or registered or something and, of course, the income will be taxable.
