I can't be the only one bemused by the recent IMU announcements.I've not missed what is happening to prima casa. Has anyone got any idea about what is happening to second home IMU or by which date that is to be made clear?

Apologies, no idea what just happened. Does anyone know the content of the austerity budget? Or is able to point me to a summary. I know that health charges have increased and so have taxes but I am interested in the details.

There are many lovely places to live in the entroterra this end of Liguria. Lots of villages and hill villages that retain an authentic Italian lifestyle and welcome international second home owners. We have had a second home inland from Vallecrosia for 16 years and still love the area.Things are organised by the valleys that run in from the coastal towns. There is a great deal of choice. It depends what you like and what type of property interests you eg village apartment, country house with land or coast apartment. Stunning views, a renovation project or something modernised already...I would say your budget for central Bordighera is too small unless you want something tiny.The market has been slow for a few years. Young people cannot get mortgages.. Many second home owners are aging and their children aren’t interested so there is a lot for sale. Don’t assume there is anything wrong with properties. There are many nice ones and everything is negotiable..Not so many buyers in the market.some areas have attracted particular nationalities eg Dutch, German or Danish. Others are very mixed. Many of the hill towns have interesting summer music festivals so that is worth looking out forHappy to give any general advice on areas. Keep looking. The bustle of SanRemo can be nicer at a distance.

Then using the catasto information do the forms and pay at the post office.Alternatively you could employ a commercialista or your estate agent to do it for you.
An Oggi supplement with Il Seccolo yesterday talks about the multiplyer being changed from 60 - 65 leading to an 8.3% increase in IMU on second homes. It seems it all might be declared on the 7th June. Leaving 10 days to make payment. Anyone know any more about this? Is it definite or does it need to be ratified.

You connect via ethernet. You can use any electrical socket for your devices. The modem/router obviously goes into the first one. They work very well. I prefer the ones that also allow you to still use the electric socket - pass through its called. I would think you could buy them from any large electrical/computer shop. If not I'm sure you could get them online.

It is excellent going on the North Sea Ferry route. A nice relaxed early evening boarding. No getting up at the crack of dawn to get down to the channel ports - knackered by the time you reach them! You also get off very early so start off well breakfasted and rested by 8.30ish. Makes a difference - especially on the return journey.
I'd ask the comune. After all the Sindaco is a geometra. An exhaustive list of documents and how tos is in the Tributi section of the Perinaldo website - don't know if that is of any use. Hope the sun is shining......

DICHIARAZIONE IMU I contribuenti devono dichiarare gli immobili posseduti nel territorio del Comune, tramite apposito modello ministeriale entro 90 (novanta) giorni dalla data in cui il possesso degli immobili ha avuto inizio o sono intervenute variazioni rilevanti ai fini della determinazione dell’imposta. I contribuenti che hanno già assolto all'obbligo in materia ICI, non sono tenuti a presentare una nuova dichiarazione per gli immobili già dichiarati.. Per gli immobili per i quali l’obbligo dichiarativo è sorto dal 1.01.2012 , la dichiarazione deve essere presentata entro il 30.09.2012. Non deve essere presentata dichiarazione nel caso in cui le variazioni dipendono da atti di trasferimento di proprietà o atti di cessione o costituzione di diritti reali per i quali i notai utilizzano obbligatoriamente il Modello Unico Informatico e nel caso di dichiarazione di successione.
