Two nights ago a gecko appeared in my lounge. It stayed high up on the wall and I couldn't reach it even if I were brave enough to handle it. Yes, I know they are quite sweet, eat mosquitoes, etc and it only scares me when it moves!
Hope you are all having a great ferragosto. What's everybody doing? I'm having a quiet day at home with my dog.
I live in a city centre, second floor apartment so I don't get much bother from creepy-crawlies, which is just as well, as I'm a city lady who is terrified of them.
I thought it would be fun to find out what everyone is reading at the moment. I'm reading "Julie and Julia" in English and a bio of Rita Levi Montalcini in Italian.
Are people interested in the UK election where you are? Here everyone is fascinated by "Bigotgate"!
Is anyone else addicted to those pocket chocolate espresso things? Just wondering....
Can anyone else see a beautiful new moon out there? Made a wish?

You can just walk in and they will be very glad to see you but, as Gala says, an appointment is a good idea too. I agree that you should do as much research as you can before you visit them.
Hi, FromNowOn. Italian hairdressers are brilliant and I'm sure your Mum will love the salon.
Buongiorno, Dougal. I hope you make it to Sicily soon! It's lovely down here.
As Pacentro says, any decent monolingual Ital dictionary will give you an idea of etymology. There are many good etymological dictionaries around and these are not costly as there are paperback editions. I recommend the Mondadori.
I'm sure Gala is right. With regard to aerosols in general, now you are supposed to put spray perfume, hairspray, etc., in hold whereas before the Glasgow Airport incident they were supposed to go in your hand baggage. With regard to medication, I was once told to put spare ventolin asthma spray in hold luggage but other medicines should be in hand luggage.
Hi, Gala. Yes, those and the version that are little chocolates. These disappeared from the market for a while but are back now. The "cioccolato in tazza" ones are a dream . I like them chilled. Hi, Alan . Love the video. Good advice, Tinker.
Just saying "Welcome" from Sicily, Dougal. I have no experience of buying property here so I can't help with your query but I see you have received some excellent advice above.
It certainly seems more hopeful now. Hope your son gets back within the next few days, love-italy. Hi, Maralyn. I can empathiser completely. Hope you're here in Italy by now. Hi, Alan. Hoping for the best.
