ITALY Magazine 2015 Must-See Destinations
Time to plan your ITALY trip (or, perhaps, trips...) for 2015!
Whether you are planning to visit a city, an unspoiled beach or a hidden gem not yet discovered by great hordes of tourists, we have selected the right place for you.
Our 10 picks include off-the-beaten-path locations, smaller cities known only to locals, as well as cities you simply must visit in 2015.
To compile this top 10 list, we asked our staff, contributors and authors for their recommendations and selected spots that have something special to offer in 2015, like the city of Milan, site of the 2015 World Exposition.
Going beyond the Cinque Terre, we recently suggested how to best enjoy a tour of Liguria, but we kept the best for this list! There are five islands in the Ligurian Sea, all of them protected nature reserves, all of them beautiful and unexplored. Plan a summer trip to the area and include visits to these wonderful islands.
Head to Matera before anyone else does! This Basilicata town has been selected as European Capital of Culture for 2019. Known as "la città sotterranea" (the Subterranean City), Matera is famous for its UNESCO-listed historical center, called "Sassi", and for the Park of the Rupestrian Churches.
Buone vacanze!
