The Legambiente, one of the leading Italian groups working for the protection of the natural environments of Italy, alongside the Touring Club Italiano have published their annual Guida Blu, which lists hundreds of their favourite locations. The most interesting part of the Guida Blu is the judgement on which are the top seaside resorts in Italy, a recognition that hundreds of towns would like to lay their hands on.
The coveted first spot went this year to Castiglione della Pescaia in Tuscany, a seaside resort famous for its medieval castle dominating the views of the sea. The top ten is completed with Cinque Terre, Bosa, Isola del Giglio, Otranto, Portovenere, Arbus, Noto, Tropea and Pollica Acciaroli, and Pioppi. All these locations went through 128 test, rated on everything from air quality, cleanleness and facilities.
