Over five thousand people already visited the School of the Guardia di Finanza di Coppito, where the G8 took place. The barracks were opened to locals and tourists who were curious to see where the summit took place and how the rooms of the heads of states where prepared, including a basketball court setup specifically for Obama - who seems to have used it for a few minutes between breaks.
Many people from the temporary camp town of L'Aquila, where they have been living since the terrible earthquake of the 6th of April, visited the elegant rooms of the heads of states and the restaurants and took pictures in the summit's main meeting rooms.
Two exhibitions are being held in the barracks which will remain open to the public until Sunday - one on Italian art and the other on Abruzzo art, the earthquake and the reconstruction efforts.
