Rumors have been circulating for a while about an impending Venice wedding for George Clooney and fiancée Amal Alamuddin.
Now the rumors seem to be confirmed – by none other than Clooney himself.
The American actor and filmmaker was the guest of honor at the charity event Celebrity Fight Night, held at Palazzo Vecchio in Florence on Sunday, September 7. He was accompanied by Alamuddin.
Organized by Andrea Bocelli, the event, held for the first time outside the U.S., was a benefit for the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.
During his acceptance speech for the Andrea Bocelli Humanitarian Award, received from Bocelli himself, Clooney hinted at the couple's wedding plans.
"I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying, in a couple of weeks, in Venice, of all places," he told the crowd.
There had also been some speculation that the nuptials would be held at Clooney's home on Lake Como, Villa Oleandra.
Clooney, 53, and Alamuddin, 36, sat at a table with Bocelli and his wife, Veronica Berti, along with Jimmy Walker, founder of the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.
Clooney proposed to Alamuddin, a British lawyer, in April after they began dating in late 2013.
