On the 22nd of September 2012, 14 of the biggest stars of Italian pop music will head to Campovolo in Reggio Emilia for the Italia Loves Emilia Concert, benefiting those effected by the Emilia earthquakes.
Biagio Antonacci, Claudio Baglioni, Elisa, Fiorella Mannoia, Laura Pausini, Lorenzo Jovanotti, Litfiba, Luciano Ligabue, Negroamaro, Tiziano Ferro, and Zucchero have announced their support of the event via Twitter. Giorgia, Nomadi, and Renato Zero are also scheduled to perform for an expected 100,000 audience members.
Proceeds from the event will fund reconstruction of schools that were destroyed by the earthquakes in Emilia on the 20th and 29th of May 2012. Tickets, on sale on ItaliaLovesEmilia.it as of the 28th of June, will go completely toward reconstruction in Emilia due to corporate sponsorship of the event and gratis performances by the artists.
Italia Loves Emilia continues the momentum created by Emilia Live, a mega concert of Emilian artists organised by Beppe Carletti of famous Italian band Nomadi held on the 25th of July in Bologna.
The organisers have launched the Twitter hashtag #italialovesemilia for fans and supporters to follow updates.
