The natural stone industry is important in Italy and exports have grown in 2013. Marmomacc is considered by trade operators and professionals as the landmark world event in the field of natural stone.
Marmomacc takes place at the Veronafiere exhibition centre. On average, it attracts 1,500 exhibitors from more than 55 countries, 50,000 visitors from more than 130 countries, 50 group shows and business delegations from five continents.
It includes conferences, workshops, exhibitions and installations, with a special emphasis on projects by young architects and emerging designers. Other initiatives include the 13th edition of the International Stone Award Architecture – a biennial prize celebrating the best architectural projects involving the use of stone materials – the Marble Forum, the Best Communicator Award, Marmomacc Lab and Marmomacc & the City.
The event is not just about stone: visitors will also be able to see the Opera on Ice spectacle performed by leading figure skaters. Opera on Ice takes place at the Arena di Verona on 28 September and performers include the world figure-skating champion, Carolina Kostner, who will be accompanied by the Arena di Verona’s prestigious orchestra, choir and singers.
