The largest solar energy park in Italy is located in Sticciano Scalo, near Roccastrada (Grosseto).
The Cicalino 1 Park is made up of 137 solar mills panels that follow the sun's movement, imitating the motion of sunflowers.
This new technology guarantees an increase in energy production from 20-35% more than immobile solar panels.
The park contains 137 panels that extend over five hectares that produce over 1.6 million kWh per year, which corresponds to the energy consumption for 500 families.
The Sticciano Scalo park guarantees the saving of up to 312 tons of petroleum per year, avoiding the emission of 952 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
The project was realized by the Ceppo company, who then commissioned it to ''Solar Energy Italia'', made up by Atmos SpA and State Street Global Investment Sgr.
