Just three months since the approval of the final project to connect Sassari and Alghero with a new motorway, problems have already appeared. The Italian Legambiente (an environmentalist movement) wrote to the local administration to point out that the project has several faults. Amongst the more serious ones is the fact that the project defining the new road was planned thirty years ago and quite simply the cities it is meant to connect are now very different places. In particular, it is now necessary, according to the Legambiente, to consider a ring road around Alghero so as to severly disrupt what are now populous neighbourhoods, which thirty years ago where simply disused olive fields. The local administration is considering the points raised.
