Penelope Cruz is reuniting with Italian director Sergio Castellitto to play a single mother returning to Sarajevo with her teenage son.
The film is based on a best selling Italian novel titled “Venuto al Mondo” by Margaret Mazzantini.
Penelope Cruz has previously stated that she was eager to focus on the project because the novel successfully helps audiences understand the “fear and desperation” of war.
This will be Cruz’s second leading role under the direction of Castellitto. The pair first worked together in 2004 on “Don’t Move.”
Cruz was recently in Rome to work the movie Woody Allen is currently filming, and she will be off to another Italian destination to star in Castellitto’s new project. Filming is rumored to begin later this year in Turin.
