In this 1994 film Marisa Tomei is the aptly named Faith, a young woman who believes in destiny: as a child the name of her future soulmate, Damon Bradley, is spelt out to her on a Ouija board and later a fortune teller confirms this. As a woman, Faith sets off to find Damon Bradley in Italy – ten days before her wedding to someone else.
Along the way Faith and her travelling companion, her sister-in-law Kate, meet Giovanni, a smooth Italian businessman and Peter Wright, who tells Faith he is Damon Bradley. The two fall in love but – oh, dear! – then Peter reveals his real name and Faith leaves him angrily.
The three Americans go to Positano where one of Peter’s friends poses as Damon Bradley. Soon Faith’s brother arrives in Italy and admits that he spelt out the name “Damon Bradley” all those years ago and paid the fortune teller to say the name.
As the Americans head home, there is another twist in the plot at the airport and Faith realises which man is “Mr Right”.
Enjoy this romantic comedy in which all is resolved in the most satisfactory way.
