Viva l’Italia: Sanremo Celebrates Italian Famous Songs

Last night Sanremo Music Festival hosted a special evening dedicated to “gli Italiani nel mondo”, the achievements of Italians around the world, with a special evening entitled Viva l’Italia dedicated to Italian famous songs with contestants duetting with international artists, including Patti Smith, José Feliciano, Sarah Jane Morris and Skye.

Standing ovation for guitarist Brian May who appeared with Irene Fornaciari, Zucchero's daughter. The legendary Queen guitarist accompanied her in a duet with Kerry Ellis singing "I Who Have Nothing" (Uno dei Tanti). The new arrangement by Brian May and Max Sentieri, has become an international R&B standard, and has been interpreted by great artists such as Ben E King, Tom Jones, Joe Cocker and many others.

Journalists covering the event, chose Patti Smith duet with Marlene Kuntz singing "The world became the world" (Impressioni di Settembre) as best act of this special night.

Among the best performances of the evening, José Feliciano with Arisa interpreting "Que serà" (Che sarà), Noemi and Sarah Jane Morris with "To feel in love" (Amarsi un po’), Nina Zilli and Skye, Morcheeba, with "Never never never" (Grande grande grande).
