Italian Historic Lighthouses for Rent
Eleven historic lighthouses in Italy have been put up for restoration by the Italian State. 39 offers both from Italy and abroad had come in by the end of the three-month tender, which expired January 12. “It is a significant opportunity for developing local areas," said Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti.
With seven offers, the most requested lighthouse is Faro di Capo d’Orso in Maiori (Salerno) on the Amalfi Coast, followed by Faro di Punta Imperatore in Forio d’Ischia (Naples) and Faro di Murro di Porco in Syracuse, with six offers. Four offers have been received for Faro di Capo Grosso on the island of Levanzo (Trapani), part of the Aegadian Islands, three for Faro di Brucoli in Augusta (Siracusa), Faro di Punta Cavazzi in Ustica (Palermo) and Faro di San Domino on the Tremiti islands (Foggia). Lighthouses managed by Italy’s Ministry of Defence, Faro Punta del Fenaio and Faro di Capel Rosso on the island of Giglio (Grosseto) received two offers, and Faro Formiche of Grosseto received three. The lighthouse on the island of Capo Rizzuto (Crotone) has not received any offer. Want to place your bid?
