With summer approaching Italian women start hearing the expression 'prova costume' which refers to trying out your bikini to see if you are ready for 'a bella figura' on the beach, or if you need to start working out and get on a diet. Many compare themselves to the photoshopped image of models in fashion magazines, setting impossible goals!
Well, time to review our concept of 'beauty' thanks to some of Italian most acclaimed painters and to the work of Senior Photo Editor for TakePart.com, Lauren Wade, who retouched classic works of art to show us how the excessive use of Photoshop has pushed our concept of beauty too far.
Have a look at the 'retouched version' of these masterpieces. We prefer the originals!
