Paraggi beach, located between Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino, is the only sandy beach near Portofino, known for its clear blue waters. It is also a fishing location. It is a public beach with some private beach clubs.
Halfway between Portofino and Camogli, reachable only by boat or via a trek across the Portofino promontory, San Fruttuoso is a small cove (it can get very crowded) with the famous abbey in the backdrop.
Approximately halfway between Genoa and La Spezia, the increasingly popular Sestri Levante has two beautiful bays: Baia delle Favole (Bay of Fables), and Baia del Silenzio (Bay of Silence, pictured here).
Varigotti, an important port in Roman times, is now a popular seaside destination with the largest public beach in Liguria, Saracen’s beach.
The fishing village of Camogli has mostly pebble beaches, part of the Portofino Marine Protected Area.

With 300 km of coastline, Liguria is a good summer destination, where, between a stroll among the caruggi of Genoa and a visit to the famous fishing villages of the Cinque Terre, you can enjoy a beach break. Sandwiched between the mountains and the sea, Liguria has a varied landscape, from urban beaches closer to Genoa to solitary coves that can only be reached on foot, among wide, from wide and sandy beaches to cliffs. Liguria has 27 Blue Flag beaches, an award given for cleanliness and sustainability, the Italian region with the highest number of such beaches in 2018.
