It was a late October day, and chestnuts were in full harvest. We stopped by this roadside vendor to buy a kilo of chestnuts.
Lots of roadside vendors in Campania, selling fresh fruits and vegetables. Not only a colorful display, but delicious as well. We treated ourselves to fresh tomatoes and peppers.
It was an October day, and the crowds had dissipated. This temple stood alone in the Valley of the Temples, a testament to time.
Agrigento and its historical ruins
We came upon this elderly lady calling the feral cats to her--tons came running as they knew her voice. She fed them daily with scraps of food which they gobbled up. She graciously accepted our donation to feed the feral cats of Monreale.

Erice is deservedly famous for its almonds; this display of almond biscotti was delectable.
