Northern Italy has been affected by severe bad weather for the past several days, while an earthquake struck Southern Italy this morning.
A 4.2 earthquake was registered Italy today at 8:02 am in the mountainous area between Molise and Campania, about 200 kilometers southeast of Rome. There were no immediate reports of injuries. The shock of the earthquake was felt as far away as Benevento and Naples.
Northern Italy has been plagued with bad weather for the past several days, with flooding, blocked roads, landslides and hundreds of evacuations. The Minister of Environment Andrea Orlando has declared a state of emergency in the affected areas. The most serious conditions are in Liguria, where one person is reported missing.
