American soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” shot 10 episodes in Puglia last week, including the long-awaited wedding between Hope and Liam in the picturesque seaside village Polignano a Mare, in the province of Bari.
According to executive producer Brad Bell, “The Bold and the Beautiful” is filming in Italy this month to visit the show’s fans and promote the country that so supported the show. Italy’s 4 million “Beautiful” viewers have made it the show’s top market worldwide, accounting for 11 per cent of its total viewership. In its 25-year history, “The Bold and the Beautiful” has shot in Italy three other times, in Venice, Como, and Portofino.
Six actors joined executive producer Brad Bell for the location shoot, including Ronn Moss who plays Ridge, Katherine Kelly Lang who plays Brooke, Kim Matula who plays Hope, and Scott Clifton who plays Liam. On the show, Brooke takes her family to Italy so that Hope can escape relentless press attention in Beverly Hills.
The producers chose to film in Puglia for five days to highlight the area’s attractions, including Blue Flag-certified beaches and human history dating back to the Neolithic period. To support the local economy, the production team hired a 42-person film crew from a local company.
Hope and Liam’s wedding procession was shot in along Polignano a Mare seaside promenade Lungomare Domenico Modugno featuring the statue of the singing and songwriting legend of the same name, whose song “Volare” will be used during the wedding episode. Kim Matula, who plays Hope, wore an ivory Vera Wang wedding dress with pearl buttons down the back and an elegant 50’s Hollywood star hairstyle.
