8472 UK Freesat Satellite TV in Verona

Is there anyone out there who has installed UK satellite TV in or near Verona?

The only trouble is that the guy who will be installing the satellite believes we need a dish of 1.8m diameter, which seems somewhat extreme as we are not interested in channels from Mars or Venus....just the UK.

We have done the research and know that of the Astra 2 satellites the BBC and ITV channels on the Astra 2D satellite are more difficult to receive, but from the websites that we have read through, it seems that a dish of 1m to 1.2m is enough.

We have the Freesat card and Sky box ready but just need advise on the dish and perhaps a recommended installer.

We lived in Bassano Del Grappa until recently and got BBC etc on a 1.2m dish. This is further east than Verona so you should be able to get a better signal, as it fades fast across the Veneto. Our system worked fine, but some channels faded later in the evening and we got nothing if it rained! A 1.8m dish would get you a much more reliable signal, but you are right on the edge of the 'zone'.

We now live in the Langhe, much further west and the reception there is fantastic, even with an 80cm dish.

Good luck,

Tim
