He / she is off to the vets on Monday to check for the usual ear mites / worms and a general health check. So hopefully we will be able to confirm whether it's a boy or a girl then!
Certainly no problem with eating!

I laughed when you said b*gg*r on first encounter!!! Read on!!!
I was "adopted" albeit for a few days, by a tiny wee kitten by the roadside under the bins near my house last year who had a very bad eye and a weasy chest infection. My reaction was "sugar" which I always say nstead of "sh.t" when she.he greeted me initially. I called call her/him Zucche I took what turned out to he a her to the vet and a very kind "cat" lady/girl drive miles to come and collect and look after her as I couldn't long term.

Perhaps you could choose an Italian name. For a boy I would suggest Baldo which means bold and couragious. It was widely used in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance as a Christian name. If it's a girl and, bearing in mind that we are at Christmas time, what about Befana, the friendly witch who brings presents to the children? Or perhaps Bambola (doll).
For either a boy or a girl you could use Bizza, which is a whim or a fancy.
Anyway, he/she looks very cute.... and hungry.... Nice pic

thanks for all the suggestions, we are biding our time until the vet determines male / female and then we will decide
Now a favour - feeding all these little beggers is not a problem - but vets fees mount up, also for our friends who currently give house room to 15 rescued dogs, so if you are buying from amazon could you please do so through one of the links on Andiamo In Italia - Home
It won't cost you any extra and the commission we earn will help to pay for vets fees for the strays and abandoned!
Many thanks

Why not call it "bu**erlugs"
[a term of address, usually affectionate use [Late 1800s] ]
You could call it in at night without too much fuss from the neighbours
Interesting - my computer/this website won't allow me to type "bu**er" in full - I just get "******"

Thanks to everyone for all your interesting! suggestions. So far Bernie is top of the list but we do like b*gg*r lugs

You could call it b****y lucky, lucky for short, then no prob when you find out if its a girl or boy.Or after awhile you may wish to call it basta, just to remind you no more cats!,
A

I'd like to think "basta" but it's not going to happen! We are too soft hearted. In addition to the ones we have taken in, we feed a handful of strays near us (who seem happy to live out as long as they are fed); and Bob feeds the "Canuta Cat Club" (with a little financial help from friends) on the next contrada - they can be up to as many as 10 and they all come running when they hear his car arriving.

Bernie ******lugs is a boy, and is currently sitting on the back of my neck, making writing this extremely difficult.
Our vet is marvellous. We took BB and also Barney, one of the Canuta Cat Club (strays that we take care of) to the vet yesterday. Barney had a thorough examination and was injected against parasites (ear mites). BB was also throroughly examined and we have prescription for three separate medicines as he has a cold virus. Vets total charge 15 euros. Dread to think how much the medication will be .... but our pal gets discounts in the pharmacy because he / we buy so much animal medication.
He is starting to perk up and show interest in everything ... o

Great to hear that the kitten is doing well and that you have a wonderful vet. Our little dog, Tequila, is also an abandoned pet. We rescued her from the AAA Refuge in Marbella. A lovely Shi-Tzu / Terrier + that you wonder how anyone could abandon.....
P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Awww poor wee mite found a new home. I know a few female gingies so best get him/her checked out. Glad he/she's safe though!
Now, names beginning with B...
Barrie
Bernie
Baby
Boxy (yup invented)
Bunny

Bobby
Bunty
Bubba

Good luck with the latest addition to the B crowd!
