3613 Electricity Bill

Just received my first electricity bill (oh frabjous joy), and after the first moments of shock [whoops, sorry] I realised that they'd billed me for more than three times my usage.

I phoned in my correct reading but at the end the automated message referred to ... 'prossima fatturazione'. Does this mean they won't send out a new bill now and that I have to pay the current bill in full??

I think you will need to pay it. I think they will adjust the next bill [could be wrong]

Much to the amazement of my Italian friends - ENEL actually made a refund into my bank account a few bills ago, to correct over billing.

Thanks for that Alan, as I suspected, and the bill also refers to full payment before the due date. It's just that I'd rather my cash flow were the one to benefit! Think I'll visit my chandlery friends next time I'm back in the UK and buy a few photovoltaic panels!

After I got my first bill from ENEL I understood why the house only had 15 Watt light bulbs fitted when I bought it. [the funniest thing was the 'chandelier' with 25 sockets but only 2 bulbs fitted]

- I swapped them for the low energy ones - so can at least read at night now.

The low energy bulbs have come down in price here recently, but as a result of my findings on a recce last autumn, I brought a load over with me when I arrived in March. Reading doesn't seem to be very widespread here, which may also explain the acceptability of 15 watt bulbs..
