8812 international college in le marche

hello, this message is for people resident in le marche :
i'm starting to study a new and difficult project about an international college(high level, from primary school-all sports, multilingual, very controlled, bus service, etc) to create near macerata, what do think about this? would you send your guys there? would they like to sleep there(if you don't leave close to macerata) during the week?would you pay up to 500 euro/month? would you pay up to 1000 euro/month?
the best answer to understand if and which demand we have from you british (or anybody else) who leave here, would be : john-2 sons-ok/no for college-would(n't) send-would(n't) sleep-no/yes 500 euro-no/yes 1000 euro.
this is just a first and simple research, but i would like to check first yor impressions, thanks to everibody

Cost of living - Utility Services

Mcandrew,
Personally, we feel it is important that our children assimilate themselves into Italian life via local schools- this helps them meet friends, create common bonds etc and is helpful for our family being absorbed and accepted in the local community. I think that most Stranieri feel the same, we don't want to create and English ghetto- if community and the Italian way of life was not important to us then we may have followed the herds that live in English enclaves in Spain or France. Also, I think that, with the current economic decline, now is not the best time to launch a venture that would seriously raise the cost of living here in Le Marche. We would prefer a better standard of teaching but that is another matter.

For much the same reasons as already given by Damiano we would never be interested in such a school for our children.
However, if anyone were to consider such a school you would need to provide an awful lot more information to enable them to make an informed choice ie size, nationalities catered for, where would the teachers come from, which curriculum would be followed, which exams would the school follow ( English, Italian, IB) etc etc. Cost comes way down the list of critieria.
There was a similar 'market research' question on the forum a while back and I seem to remember that it received very negative responses. Quite simply, I just do not believe the demand is there for such a school in Le Marche.

i haven't been enough clear : this college is not "for english people", mainly it's for our sons who should open their minds and start being prepared to an international life and global market,so languages are important but knoledge of other cultures also, and a more strict education at school is really needed....you know what normally happens in our schools...absolutely no respect for rules, teachers and other students..
the reason why i wanted a feedback from you british leaving here was related to this different standard of school, which you all know much better than us (i studied at an european school in bruxelles and know how much i earned and how helpful has been),so this college will be a different but more selected way to be in touch with italians,so no ghetto or enclaves , english students would probably be a different example for italians, and the best way to be accepted in the community.

Ah twins

I used to know a set of twins. One really liked me. One hated my guts for some reason. The thing is I didn't even know they were twins at first. I thought I'd met Sybil :laughs:

Hi Haven't read all the replies but have read to first few and disagree ompletely.

I agree if you choose to live in a new country permentantly then you must intergrate and this is something that my family have done.

HOWEVER, saying that I know a number of people who live in the Marche who have come here for work, they do not intend to stay here, or their families live in the UK while they work here. An international school would be something they would love the opportunity to use. I also have friends and clients (I'm and English Teacher) who would use this service and in fact I wouldn't like it because I'd lose my business! However I do acknowledge there is a demand, maybe not hugh but a clients yes.

Thats my 2 pennies.

I do not live in the Marche and my children are adults living in different countries. I have also been involved in education for very many years and I have changed countries of residency several times and for these reasons, if I had to do it all over again, I would go for an international school, bilingual throughout and with the choice of other languages and I would try to give to my children the opportunity of living and learning in a very cosmopolitan environment. It is a fact that people may have to move to different countries throughout their lives and it is better to get them prepared for that.

I think its a good idea , both of my kids went through the system here and I would of much prefered an Internatiol School . Did anyone see some education statistics on the news the other night 7 out of 10 children in Italy dont make the sufficent grade in their subjects.
