Like you Pilchard, I wish I could remember his name since he helped get our vendor very drunk during negotiations when it looked like the purchase wouldn't go through. Both parties had been sent over from the estate agent across the road to try and get it sorted, and there was a lot of back slapping and "here xxxx, try this in your caffe" -glug glug as yet another alcoholic beverage was poured in.
All in all, a pretty surreal day!
I have to admit I've never been back to eat there since I'm always a bit suspicious of hotel restaurants - but given your recommendation I'll give it a try next time I'm over.
If you do go to Communanza for the festa and feel peckish, go to the Roverino, it's a hotel/restaurant. On the main road in town. Food delicious, local fare produced by two elderly biddies and served up by the Maitre Di', a lovely, charming and friendly big guy who's name we have forgotten. We stayed there couple of years back whilst house hunting in the area and the hotel is also very good.
One evening in the restaurant there was a tavola grande full of cacciatore and for there pasta course they had tagliatelle over which the Maitre Di' grated black truffles onto each plate. When he asked us what we wanted Sprat meekly ponted to what the cacciatore were having and smiled, but was told sorry it wasn't his truffle but belonged it to the guys who had bought it for there own consumption. So we reluctantly ordered another type of sugo but imagine our surprise when he (wish we could remember his name) returned with two plates of hand made taglietelle piled high with black truffles. It was, he said all the stuff that had stuck to the back of the industrial sized grater he had used for the guys. It was delish.
