10522 New Member In Lunigiana

Hi All,
My husband and I are South Africans and have recently bought a house in Lunigiana. We have been doing our own renovation, doing much of the work ourselves. We own a landscape design business in S.A., and hope to move to Italy within the not too distant future. We would like to make contact with people in our area, and also specifically folks who are not EU citizens to compare notes regarding work permits and such. looking forward to hearing from other members.

A warm welcome Renne. We look forward to hearing more about you and your project as it progresses.

Welcome Renee, there are a number of non-EUs in Luni......look forward to hearing more of your plans & how you (eventually) settle in!

Hi Sally, thank you! My good husband is working away as we speak - hopefully we will be finished before we are TOTALLY old and grey! Where are you situated in Italy? Renee

Hi David, where do I find these non EU guys to chat to? i must really get a handle on work permits and such like. Where are you and Kim in Lunigiana - Tony and I are near Pontremoli. Thanks for saying hello. Renee

Renee, You have chosen a lovely part of Italy to relocate to. We have a house in Lunigiana (also near Pontremoli) but unfortunately we have a long time before we can make any arrangements for a permanent move. We still have to make do with the odd visit now and again when work allows.

I have only met Italians (obviously!) and EU citizens out there so far but there must be some fellow non-EU'ers there too.

Good luck with your move.

There is a S. African couple up the mountain towards Zeri. Sorry I don't know their names.

Renee, there's also another Forum called Expats in Italy - Moving to Italy and Living in Italy Information that you can join. I think it tends to attract Canadians and Americans.

Hi Renee,
Welcome to the forum.
You've chosen a beautiful part of the country to eventually settle in.
I drive through it every time on my way to the Lucca region and have admired it but not stopped yet. :reallyembarrassed:
Maybe someday when I'm not in such a rush.

Hello Renee!:jiggy:
Nice to have you in this Forum and moreover in ITALY!
Hope that your move to my country will be as easier as possible!
Of course, there will be many funny (or less funny) situations to tell us, so
let us know how does it go and if you need any advices about property, lifestyle and etc.! You might find some useful tips in this forum as there are a lot of topics!
One question: why Italy?

Welcome to the area,

We're on the Ligurian side of the Lunigiana, permanently. We have got to know a small community of Brazilians out here, got no contact details though. Just see them down the pub...

Best of luck

Hi Renee,
Welcome to Lunigiana. I repeat what others have said - you have chosen a very beautiful part oft the country. Unfortunately we can only visit our house at the moment but hope to re-locate one day. Keep us informed with the progress on your house.

HI,

We are an Irish couple who bought in the area five years ago. We try to get over as much as possible and really enjoy being there.Don't know any non EU families in the area but that is not to say that there aren't any. The forum is a great place to get to know people.
