3959 Pleased to meet you all

Hi there,

My name is Roger, I'm 39, married, live in the UK and I eat sleep and breath Italy!! Since first visiting the country in 2000, I have fallen completely in love with the place and can only think about one day moving my family out there. I am pleased to join the forums as nobody I know (apart from my long suffering partner), wants to talk about the most amazing country in the world.

One question to anyone out there - I live near Taunton in Somerset, does anyone reading this, from that area, give one-to-one Italian language lessons? I've looked at courses but they are not for me and I'm struggling to find a tutor?

Hi Roger, welcome to the forum.

I live fairly near Taunton, actually just off junction 27 of the M5. My wife currently has 1 to 1 lessons with an Italian native about 15 mins drive from us heading northwards.

I can ask the tutor if they are interested in another pupil as in 6 weeks :eek: we will be leaving Devon and heading for Abruzzo and they may be glad of someone to fill the gap!!

I'll ask first and then come back to you.

I asked the Italian Consulate - and they referred me to their Adult Education Department - and found a retired teacher - in the next town from me.

He is excellent - very enthusiastic - and a fair price.

You are so lucky going out there to live. I await your answer regarding the tutor but if they feel it is too much to take on another pupil, please do not worry.

I'd also been pointed in teh way of my local county council website; they have a "diversity/inclusion" set of webpages that offer links to language tutors..........it's hoplessly out of date, but nice to see a few Italian tutors close to me.

You might like to give this a go too?

Have had a word with my wifes tutor who is interested in taking on another pupil. I will drop you a private message giving further details.

It is obviously up to you then whether you want to or not. Don't know exactly where you live, so travel may be a bit of a pain, but that's up to you.
