Thankyou to four people who have replied to my appeal for handy help - we shall be in Casciana from 21st March until April 3rd. I'd love anyone who lives in that area whether fulltime or like us, part time to call and say hi - although its very good to hear Italian voices all round you, it is also so good to have other people's input about where to find help and what is the best way to approach certain problems. I have e/mailed one gentleman who seemed to live closer thatn others, but I was so grateful to those who replied - do come and see us! We are no 61, Casciana - that seems to be the full address! I don't have email access when in Italy as yet - more advice needed there - just call in and see us - we'd love to see you. I am a retired teacher but still with loads of ideas and plenty of energy. My husband is not so lucky - his Parkinsons disease has robbed him of energy, but he still enjoys our house. Can anyone tell me how the Winter is/was? Are snow chains still obligatory to carry - we drive out using the Mont Blanc tunnel.:eerr:

Rosie, you have a pm

Winter's been mild, but wet. Around here there has been virtually no snow, but up on the Appenines it was white of course. However there were only a few days when there was a problem on the motorways, once as far down as Genoa. I never carry snow chains and seem to have no problems.

Welcome to the forum, Rosie - we're not far from you and will send you a pm!

Ciao, Tony and Helen
