3610 Help! Transport from Pisa Airport to Viareggio

Hi,

Can anyone offer advice on how to get from Pisa Airport to Viareggio at 11pm at night? According to trenitalia I dont think I will catch the last train as I have 15 minutes between landing and the train going! A guy called Luca at a hotel in Viareggio has told me to get the bus and sent me a link to the time table but it doesnt seem to have the right times. Anyone else know of the bus times or how much a taxi will cost? I can't imagine it is much as it only takes 15 minutes by train to get there. Any help and advice would be most helpful - thanks!

I didnt really want to have to contact the hotel again as his last bit of information wasnt very useful about the buses. I just thought someone here might know.

Hi again Scarlet, see you are still online.

From the airport to the centre of Viareggio is 35 kilometres and should take less than 20 minutes by taxi. I'm sorry, I have no idea how much a taxi would be, but at least you can now compare it with time/distance = price against UK taxi fares to get some indication. Guesstimate; 25 quid?

Did some 'googling around' on the subject

Holiday Taxis on - [url]http://www.holidaytaxis.com/resorts/10/107/pisa.html[/url] quote about £82 [yes - I thought that was a bit steep too!]

Local hotels quote costs of between 60Euros and 90Euros - so I would take that as a rough guide. The Taxi rank is right outside 'Arrivals' apparently

They are showing Pisa-Viareggio as 43.89 euros but I suspect that this may be out of date .

I think the last trian to Viareggio from Pisa Central station is at 11 05 but I will check tomorrowwhen I get the train to work and let you know if you can get a later one. A train goes from the airport to pisa cental station but I am not sure what time the last one is - you can also get a but from outside the airport(tickets from information desk) to Pisa central station. The taxi from the airport is about e60 to Viareggio but if you get one from Pisa central station its about e43. Pisa station is about 5 mins on the train from the airport and the bus will only take about 10mins.

looked today and the last train is 11.05 but thats not on a saturday when it goes earlier.

I met my friend at the airport on friday evening, I got the bus from the airport to pisa station(central) You buy tickets from the information desk which is as you leave arrivals on the right - it costs less than 1 euro. We then got a taxi to my flat in Viareggio e 42 . We got the train back to the airport on the Sunday went to Pisa first left luggage place at the station.
Machine at Viaireggio that gives information on the times of the trains in English! You will get here I have managed it on my own and my Italians not that good.
