8474 Ryanair - refund

I have rather foolishly booked my return flights to Rome on the wrong day. The flights only cost 1p + taxes. It will cost more than they actaully cost to change the flights to the correct date so I intend to rebook the flights afresh.

Most of the cost of the flights are taxes. If I cancel my booking am I entitled to a refund of the taxes that Ryaniar have charged and if so is it a nightmare trying to get the refund from Ryanair.

Thanks

You will probably find the admin costs of getting a refund exceed the amount of any refund

Yes Blondie is right. I think the fee is around £16.. By the way Air One don't charge on both fares and fares refund if you didn't fly!!! Great airline but the fares have jumped up now from London City.

Errata - Sorry - Fares and taxes

You are fully entitled to reclaim your taxes, and yes Ryanair will do everything they can to make it difficult to impossible to reclaim the money. They have many tricks including only giving a partial refund then saying admin costs are greater than the reund. As far as I can tell this is at best dodgy, since they keep the money rather than giving it to the Exchequer. But it's a case of their lawyers being possibly bigger and tougher and more expensive than your lawyers.
