12010 boat rental in venice

hi , i remember reading somewhere its possible to rent a small self drive motor boat by the day in venice. any ideas anyone?

The Grauniad had the following advice:

But if something unfortunate did happen, it would only be at a closing speed of approx 14kph.

The Vaporetti take you near to wherever you'll want to go, failing that strike up a deal with a taxi owner.

This may be an option, you can set your own agenda and not worry about having the correct insurance ect.

Oh no - what a lot of Brit replies!
Go for it - but insist on a wooden Riva! I'd not settle for less - (probably I'd define the year of an acceptable vintage boat).
Check out 'officina nautica Venezia' on Google, and really good wishes for your adventure!
(Actually, it's probaby those speeding funerary barges you gotta look out for - though the waterborne builders' merchants boats are the real white van men on the canals.... !)
