Montesilvano beach

Montesilvano is a town of the province of Pescara, in the Abruzzo region of Italy. It is situated immediately north of Pescara, to which it is connected. Montesilvano is divided into Montesilvano Marina and Montesilvano Colle. The former is the lively, crowded seaside resort; the latter the original medieval comune and citadel. The mouths of the Piomba and the Saline rivers are directly north of the town. The town is located on the Adriatic Sea and offers a wide choice of accommodation (hotels, rental flats, B&B) and entertainment, both for Italian and foreign tourists.

The announcement coincides with the forthcoming 15-year anniversary of a 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck the town and surrounding areas in 2009. Mayor Pierluigi Biondi said that the title will aid in rebuilding the social fabric of the community.
