Welcome Cdn. I bet you're looking forward to your visit, and I'm sure you wont be dissapointed. Firenze (Florence) is a beautiful place though somewhat busy at that time of year, so trips out will be a benifit. Visit Sienna. Lucca, Pisa and San Giminano, all easyily acessable form Firenze.Ciao
Hope you both have a great

Hope you both have a great time, Firenze will be crowded and there will be lots of walking tours led by all manner of umbrellas, scarves etc. The winner, when I was there, was a tour led by a woman with a professional looking badge on a stick proclaiming her to be from "Trumpy Tours". The howls of laughter when I told the staf a the language school what it also menat was one of the highlights of my stay.

Travelling by train in Italy is excellent (and easy) Can I recommend you have a look at Trenitalia website to help you plan your trips. Also, be careful in Firenze - if you want to sit outside some places charge extra (a lot extra)....Lucca is beautiful and well worth a trip but remember a large majority of the shops in Lucca shut at 1:00 and don't open again until 4:00 - so go early and have a long lunch....Have a great trip! Hi and a very warm welcome. Tuscany is a wonderful place. I do agree with the others, trains from Florence are excellent and do not miss Lucca. The train station is only 200 m away from the San Pietro gate which takes you through the walls into the most magnificent town you can ever imagine. Magic!
