Hey everyone! I'm an erasmus

Hey everyone! I'm an erasmus student studying in Rome for the next semester. I don't know the city, so I wanted to ask you guys if there are any areas in the city I should avoid when looking for a room or any that are good to live in? I'm going to Unint (università degli studi internazionali di Roma, or Luspio) in the Ostiense area. Or if any of you have any other tips on what I should look out for when looking for a place to stay? all help is welcome, I don't want to accidentally pick the worst room in Rome haha :)

Hey! How exciting that you are coming to the amazing city of Rome to study. I personally stand by the fact that Italy is very safe but this is a valid question, I would definitely not look for a room too near the Termini train station, it can be a little sketch there at night, but most of Rome is awesome!!!! (think about staying close to main transportation hubs)

Hey, thanks for your response! I will look out for the Termini station :) It's kind of hard to pick a room when you don't know the city haha. I'm looking in the area of San Giovanni or somewhere between Ostiense and the centre right now, because someone told me Ostiense's not so nice to stay at apparently.

no problemo, I know how you feel, when I first moved to Florence a few of my friends didn't look up the area before booking an apartment and ended up with a 30 minute bus ride to school every morning because they were in a far out suburb. If I was you, i would look in the areas of trastavere, prati, testaccio (more fun), aventino (more quiet). Nothing will beat living in the center when you have such a short time to explore. I wish you all the best of luck finding a place!

The area north of the Roma Ostiense station is very nice, though you'll probably pay more for an apartment. While the area south of the station doesn't have as much eye appeal, it is not a bad area at all. In places it has an old, worn look making it seem less attractive, but there is so much housing available in the area south of the station, you'll probably get some great bargains compared to the rest of Rome!Ostiense doesn't have the same exciting, well-known night spots like the historical center of Rome, but there are lots of wonderful local places to soak in the culture without the tourist prices.LUSPIO is only about 2.5km from Piramide Metro Station and the Porta San Paolo and Roma Ostiense train stations, making it possible to easily get anywhere in Rome, or Italy, using public transportation. Garbatella Metro is even closer (about 1.5km). There are also several bus routes near the school making it very easy to access the Metro and train stations.Based on crime statistics, Rome is one of the safest cities in Europe and by far safer than all major US cities. Pickpocketing is the one crime where Rome outranks most others, so plan accordingly when you're out.Read about Ostiense:  https://www.airbnb.com/locations/rome/ostienseGood luck!

Thanks for your replies! And I know about Luspios service, I filled in their form, but for some reason they don't reply. Maybe the school's closed now or something.I feel like Easystanza is a million times more efficient.
