Salemi (Sicily)

Salemi is a town in South-Western Sicily, administratively part of the province of Trapani. This Arab-medieval village is located in the Belice Valley, between the hills cultivated with vineyards and olive groves. It is surrounded by the castle from whose curved terrace of the circular tower it is possible to see a vast panorama of western Sicily to the sea. They are definitely worth a visit to the Norman Castle, the Ritual Baptism Museum and the Salemi Civic Museums, which include the sections: Sacred, Archaeological, Risorgimento, Mafia Museum, Stone Campanedda Museum. Inside the museum there is an 18th century chapel that faithfully reproduces the Casa Santa di Loreto "Casa della Madonna". Among the most flourishing typical traditions, we need to remember the weaving of rugs on the frame, the embroidery and the processing of the stone, made from the quarries of the territory and used for the decorations of the houses and carved by local artisans.

Saffron, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and cloves — combined with dried fruit and tomatoes — make this Sicilian dish incredibly flavorful. But what you really want to get right is the chicken crust.

@jedward4 asks:

Hello,

Good morning

I am looking for someone to help me with tracing my Sicilian ancestors (Messina, circa 1815!) and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with professional genealogists in the area and could possibly recommend anyone please?

Many thanks

We have bought a house in Sicily and i have been told we need to replace our roof tiles because of a law coming in.  i have searched the internet and cant find a law, so wondered if anyone could help me.  Could it be that we have asbestos roof tiles?
