I think the groups now exist

[at least - when I go to the 'make a new post' section, there they are, in the "Audience" section]

Anyone used the Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry service?

By chance I went on the old Forum yesterday - found that someone had PM'ed me from that forum only a few days ago.

I hadn't got any notification of a PM, but obviously the old Forum PM system still works

Hopefully they may start flights to the North soon ?

what else can one say?

I can't beleive that its 17+ hours since the last post - or has my PC taken over and hidden everything?

Hopefully this will kill Blair's ambitions off.

There is an interesting article in today's G2 section of the Guardian newspaper by a woman who moved to Italy, founded a successful business, and has now moved back to the UK [but still has the business] because she missed London

Well, as nobody has posted, I'll give my response as a non-resident. (I have a holiday property in Piemonte).

Piemonte is a large (to Brits) area with differing characteristics.   There are mountainous areas, (north and west), beautiful lake areas such as Maggiore and Orta, and lots of flatter areas.  You really need to focus in on possible areas to live - weather varies across the region  so you need to get statistics online for specific areas.

Also, if you want to 'do the woodcraft shop" thing, perhaps you need the touristy areas such as the West Side of Maggiore or the east side of Orta.  You'd probably need to live a bit away from your shop because of property prices and space availability.

Good luck with your search

Well, the filtering checks don't work that well  -  it seems that every other post (by newbies - but not the one above) is an essay writing advert

Only thing you now need driving down is the Covid Pass for entry to France  (and possibly Italy)

My place - used about 10 weeks a year, costs approx €600 for Council Tax and €180 for the TARI  Rubbish Tax.

For the TARI I get collections of rubbish bags,  four or 5 times a week from the front gate

  •   Monday - metal cans etc
  •   Tuesday - Paper
  •   Wednesday  - plastics
  •   Thursday  - Non-recyclable
  •   Friday  - kitchen waste  (2 days a week in Summer)

We live in a small 'hamlet' of approx 20 houses, down a narrow road.  Collection is by a one man mini tipper truck which returns to a central area and tips its load into a "normal sized" rubbish lorry. This system of mini tipper operates throughout the commune area, even in the ,town', because of narrow streets
