Hi everyone. Are there any Australians who have successfully applied for a permesso di soggiorno for an elective resident visa to Italy able to advise us of their experiences? The process sounds complicated.
First, my apologies for my late reply. Thank you Bruno, Ugo and Gala for your advice and information. Gala, I have also heard about a letter being enough for domicile. My cousin is elderly and does not have internet. I worry the forms will be too hard for him. I have found an example letter on the internet and will send via email through another cousin that lives nearby. I thought that would be easier for him than filling out a three page form? I will let you know how it goes. Also no one seems to be able to tell me how much money I need to show in my bank account as proof of being independant. Thanks again
Hi, I'm new to this site. I hope to spend two to three months living in Italy next year, and the next and the next.... My husband and I have been looking at properties to rent in Le Marche, specifically in Castignano and I was flabbergasted to see your post. I live in Australia and my parents were born in Castignano and migrated here after the war. I am trying to do my family research and have got to the point where I really need to go to Italy and research from there. I don't know what help you are looking for or if you have found someone but this is exactly what we are looking for. My husband runs his own garden landscaping business and helped his brother for many years in the building trade so he is very handy! We are willing and able to look after your property for a few months in exchange for rent. We are planning to go around June/July as it is our winter and business slows down. Look forward to your reply.

Thank you so much, it has certainly given me food for thought. I can start planning!
Thank you Gala for all that great info. I appreciate it. Is that 8000 Euros or 80,000? That's not very much at all.
