3884 ciao for now

[FONT="Book Antiqua"][SIZE="3"]Off to Abruzzo for a while so no more grouchy posts for a bit!

Feeling full of apprehension about what we will find, at the house and when we talk things through with our Geometra.i just hope he'll be able to see what we are trying to do with the house.It's so hard when you are so far away....and all of a sudden summer has arrived in Cornwall.Glorious days starting at 4pm with the blackbirds and lasting until nearly 10pm.I ask myself is Italy any better than this?Then we have this worry over new taxes on holiday homes so I dont even know if we'll be able to afford to own one.We are by no means well off .It's all quite unsettling.

Hmm hopefully I will be more positve after the visit? Who knows?

Must also say a big thanks to Rob and Linda who took some of our stuff over last time they went.met them on this forum then in the real world in April and they are great!!thanks.Hope they can get their move sorted out soon.

Have a great time - the house will be fine and stop fretting about double taxation - it's all talk and pie in the sky at the moment and therefore, just another rumour - but even if it wasn't - it wouldn't affect you as you have already bought.. unless.. Ooooer.. you know what these italians are like! :p

Now, will you stop worrying and just go! :D

Is this referring to comments by people in the Italian government of the moment or is it instead a reference to something said recently by Steve "Fount of Wisdom" Wright?

If the latter, I really doubt if it will affect you. The only thing I've seen recently concerning UK taxes and foreign homes has been the Inland Revenue saying it intends to crack down on those who under-declare income received as cash and use the money to buy assets abroad.

I'm shocked at the allegation, but the Inland Revenue apparently believes that some trademen and small business people actually encourage people to pay in cash and that money never makes it to the company's books but gets deposited in foreign bank accounts. Those nasty, suspicious tax people apparently doubt that it's possible for, say, a plumber in London to be earning £12,000 a year and able to afford a holiday villa in the Dordogne or on one of the Costas.

[FONT="Book Antiqua"][SIZE="3"]Thanks to you all I loved Abruzzo and Manoppello and was very sad to leave.All my worries ( well most) vanished once I was actually out at the house which I can now see us living in.

Cant wait to go back in September.
