Reckon that you might like to add a new section............Pointless facts & general news durge....we missed the following:

Umbria is Italy's only non-maritime province

Umbria's seismic history(!)

No mention of Perguia airport & plans for expansion; I thought we were going to see international flights in 2006....

No mention of the proposal to carve a third province mainly out of Perugia; will it be Spoleto or Foligno?

Gualdo's ceramics...

Giosuè Carducci's "il cuor verde d'Italia"

No mention of Perguia's University for foreign students; any good?
Sorry, but my brain's only just kicked in :(

Unfair!
The fact Umbria has no coast was covered in watery things to do in Umbria! (Who needs salty water and waves?)
Gualdo's ceramics were mentioned (but via a ceramics link, I admit.)
Carducci (if anyone followed the suggestion of looking up the Fonte di Clitunno) got a semi mention.
You are right -nobody mentioned our most famous recent earthquake 1996 - which was quite fascinating in that it was the first "major" (like less than ten people killed) quake in the era of cellphones, hit a lot of headlines because "a tourist destination" (ie Asissi) closed down for a bit.
And - politics - AArrgghh - it is more likely to be Orvieto provincia than Spoleto or Foligno! And politics - AArrgh - don't bet on Perugia airport!
Dunno why the Universita per stranieri didn't get a mention - I don't do education :)
I'm falling into campanellismo here...I love Tuscany as well!

I was in umbria last year and especially loved Montefalco and Spello. The food was awesome as well. I love the food all over italy but somehow in Umbria they manage to make it even better.
Interesting - but looking at the member map as well I think the neighbours in Le Marche should provide fertile ground. Starting tomorrow most probably. In the meantime the Umbria guide is being put together!
Could we go to Lombardy/Lombardia some time soon with a concentration on the lakes perhaps?

Ryanair announced on 7th September that flights will be starting 20th December...so you will see international flights in 2006!!! We have already booked. Flights are free (plus taxes, etc.) until midnight Monday.
