Hear hear Marco!
There are lots of things that don't work quite as well in Italy as back in Blighty (Roundabouts being the prime example, but what do you expect if nobody ever indicates?!) However, living here is wonderful for so many reasons that these small inconveniences are easily forgotten.
You truly can find the Dolce Vita in the Bel Paese!

Hi Marco
We are not far from you, close to Montegiorgio. I have been outside today, gardening with just a sweater on, and the sun is trying to shine, its 13c and it feels good. It reminds me of why we are here.

Taking up on the roundabout theme, and how certain things don't work in Italy, how about minced lamb? Minced lamb I hear you say, whats that got to do with it, its that you can't find it anywhere, ohhh, and don't ask a butcher to mince some lamb for you, at least around here, they look at you as though you are completely mad (or foreign), what would you want minced lamb for? Ragu made with lamb is a whole different pasta game, my family in Venice, use it, but here in Marche, its unheard of.....
But at least the sun shines on our bare bottoms, for those of us who choose to expose theirs at 13C...brrrrr...

Ciao, Marco. There is also a beautiful minced lamb dish from Emilia Romagna called "Stufato d' Agnello", the basic ragu recipe, but they mince it by hand. If you buy boned lamb, it is not that difficult... although a bit time- consuming; however, doing restoration work you must be very patient....
Anyway, not being able to find minced lamb is not a tragedy. As you say, there are plenty of other good reasons to enjoy Italy.

I use minced veal for a much lighter ragu. And I was wearing wellingtons as well !
