llkewise: unless they'll go for 'stairway to heaven' played out of time, or 'concierto de aranjuez' played with about half the notes it requires, then I'm definitely not your man - but I think its a really nice idea; would be great for some talented ex-pat minstrels to form a super group and give a little back to the communities in their adopted homeland. If you can organise it, make sure it gets U-Tubed so that we (the talentless masses) can be your groupies :-)

There are two forum members living close to me who both sing in the local choir, but maybe they are going to be too shy to post (shy!!!?). I would love to be able to sing, and do with the right encouragement, but doubt if I would be an asset. Perhaps I could just hum in the background.
Brilliant idea though Anne.

Being one of the two offenders that A&R mentioned, I can safely say that we would be up for it , love the idea of a bit of blue grass, I will ask MFBLOH to have a chat and see who we could contact re venues etc............

As my name suggests I play (ahem... am learning) the flute but as I make the term 'amateur' look like a compliment I am not volunteering. However I am a crackin' good bones player (improvising on spoons when necessary), but there isn't normally much demand for them!
I sing only when everybody is lubricated and singing; round here that's mainly Alpini songs.

Hi Anne
A friend recently purchased a house in the country near to Montorio al Vomano ( Teramo) - he is a full time musician in the UK and is planning to set up a recording studio at his new house. His aim is to tour for 6 months in the UK and then tour/write and record in Italy/Europe for another 6 months. Friends and family in Italy love him and I know when we come back to Abruzzo at Easter time we will be looking for venues. You can hear his music at Jonathan Cotton // SINGER / SONGWRITER / PERFORMER or MySpace.com - Jonathan Cotton - Bournemouth, UK - Acoustic / Folk Rock / Pop - www.myspace.com/jonathancotton. He is releasing his second album at the end of February. he is currently struggling with Italian but he is fluent in Spanish. Whilst I am sure he is not everyones cup of tea he is making a good living playing and is a really friendly and talented individual.

Acoustic - that's definitely my bag. Drummer son with Led Zep influence wouldn't agree though!
I won't be around at Easter - but I'm sure I speak for others as well in saying keep in touch and let us know how you get on. There's plenty who could show you a good time in S Marche!
I only played the recorder at school but just wanted to say what a fantastic idea.
