As far as I know it very much depends on a few things, being whether you plan to have it as your first or second residence, then how much land you have is taxed as agricultural or urban, we ended up paying around 15% all up, including estate agency, notary and solicitor fees and all the taxes.

The final figure also depends on the "Valore Catastale" or the value stated by the Registrar.
I know that we paid well over €5K to the Notary for our house purchase (€160K) - the Notary wanted half the fee in cash! (presumably so he wouldn't have to declare the full amount to the tax office!)
