Karen you do have a lovely town there overlooking the sea. It does help to be in an area where there is limited English to help with your Italian.

Welcome to Southern Lazio and good luck with the ongoing language studies, I am sure you have discovered the local Italian diverges from the text books from time to time. Interesting that there was a prog on UK TV last night about a Brit couple looking at houses on the S Lazio coast and interesting that prices were considerably dearer than inland! Are you permanently resident in Italy?

Hi, I have eventually completed the purchase of an apartment in Tuscany and look forward to spending as much time as possible there. It only took 12 months longer than planned but we eventually managed it. I will be raising many questions in the future now that I have managed to be authorised to post.

hi there,
my name is martin and my partners name is jo-anne , after our third visit to abruzzo,we finally found an old house in the village of caramanico , which we bought in january .
this is after having two let downs on other properties one in attessa and the other near tollo, we was very dissapointed after this happened, but we came out again, and found our house , only by luck , as the scout showed us the house from her book , we was not that keen but went to look anyway and fell in love with it. we have been over fof a few days and started knocking some walls down and clearing rubble before the main works starting after the summer this year ,we have booked to come over a few times with some freinds and carry on with works/hoilday

Hello everyone and thanks for your welcome, we have visited Tuscany, Umbria, le Marche, Venice, Verona, Sirmione, Sirollo, and loved everywhere we have been. We wanted a holiday home that would be loved by not only us but our four adult children and their families. This is a tough call. We have culture vultures, beach lovers, city lovers, walkers, public transport fans, and looked for somewhere with a bit of everything within easy reach. Sperlonga does all of this and more and is very beautiful. The young family members love the carnival atmosphere of August and others the lovely beaches out of season, Everyone love the warm friendly people. Whatever time of year we go is a totally different holiday. It really is heaven spring and autumn although there has been more rain this month. We get over about 4 times a year (and increasing) and family and friends last year filled every week from March to November. Rome and Naples and mountains in easy reach, perfetto. We plan to spend more and more time there, sadly the euro/pound is misbehaving. Even in August, when the town is full of tourists, they are Italian tourists so evrything is very entertaining. Evryone is very patient and encouraging with our attempts to learn Italian. It is on a need to know basis usually, I am quite good at shopping and with the plumber/handyman!

Hi Louie
thanks for your reply. I love the drive up to Itri from Speronga and down again. We had a very pleasant lunch up there on our last visit. I see from your web site you have a lovely home. Hope the business side is going well. Are you originally from England? Please tell me a bit about yourself. My husband and I are somewhat past our sell by date ( 57 and 60) but still enjoy ourselves. He enjoys watching all sport, esp football, rugby, horse racing, cricket and most others! He is an almost retired dentist. I have been a nurse, midwife, health visitor with 4 children and one very new grand child. i like out door living, keep two horses, a dog and two cats (otherwise would be in Italy even more) Hope the wet primvera and early pasqua has not slowed down the start of the season for you
Karen

hello from another Lazio part timer - we're in the Colli Albani just South of Rome and I've just recommended that visitors consider going as far as Sperlonga to find a good beach. You've found yourselves a gem - best of wishes, I'm sure you and your family will love it. We bought our villino several years ago and went through the agony of teenagers who wanted to be left at home with their friends. Now they are using the house themselves and it all seems worthwhile.
Hi Karen and welcome to the forum.Sperlonga looks a lovely place, please tell us more about it.:)
