10617 Buongiorno tutti...

Hi, new to the forum (yesterday) and already getting valuable advice so many thanks. Isn't everyone on here lovely and friendly? We bought a house in an all-Italian village 2 years ago with a lovely (if distant) view of Lake Trasimeno from our back step, lovely mostly elderly neighbours or farmers/hunters around us and across the square and down the lane who are now getting so used to us being there 4/5 times a year that as we are on the main corner of the village vocabolo we rarely manage to have a latte on the balcony without waving to at least two or three cars or tractors who hoot and wave as they go past (every time sometimes 3 times a day!!) Now several of our neighbours have died or are giving up their holiday homes (they live in Rome - holiday/weekend here in Umbria) and we find ourselves desperately hoping that the houses going on sale are not bought by "foreigners" i.e. non-Italians!! We already consider ourselves adopted Italians and cannot wait to move permanantly in 2 years but don't want to find the village becoming Little Britain - aren't we selfish?!! As a devoted Bocelli fan I am hoping we will have more opportunity to see the great man perform more frequently although it does seem lately that as soon as we hit Italian shores he heads off on the nearest ferry to give a concert in another country!! Look forward to chatting to many of you in the years to come, off again to our lovely home on Friday for a couple of weeks, can't wait. See, a brief introduction turns into an essay with me using 10 words where one will do, I am truly Italian...................(but you cannot see the hand gestures and arm waving.......) :bigergrin:
