We did the UK trip two years in a row - with petrol, road tolls, hotels, food, ferry etc - it is expensive and wearisome. Bob decided he didn't want to make the trip any more so we imported the car (and became legal at the same time!)

For internet access, there is a local company who can provide broadband by means of a small arial or parabola;
ICT Valle Umbra (Nicolo Bartolini)
349 6464932 Mobile
0742514111 Mobile
0742345455 Fax
Email: info@ictvalleumbra.it
Viale 4 Novemebre 12
Foligno, Umbria
Italy
The cost is about €250 + €25/month and they will come a do a site survey for you before you buy.
Another option is to buy a USB Dongle from '3' or one of the other mobile phone companies. Visit a local mobile phone shop and they will know if you have UMTS or HSPDA service in your area.
For your car, an ACI office may be able to help, or visit Silvia at Auto Frescura, the Fiat dealer in Bastardo. Having said that, some people get away without re-registering their cars for years.
We love Cannara; the onion festival is the de riguer social event of the year fr us and the infiorata is great too!

There is also a company that we are very pleased with called ARIADSL based in Foligno that provides wireless broadband...(see other threads on this subject on the Forum). You have to be in their line of site and as you can see we are right up near Lago Trasimeno intro
ADSL in your area, we can't help with that. After three years we are still waiting for a landline never mind ADSL (there are other options - vodafone and other mobile service providers give good coverage and good deals or you can look at satellite upload-download. Expensive but that is what we had to resort to).
For the car, we found a local insurance agency who handles imports. It took about 3 months and we have our italian plates, still waiting for the bill but expect it to be about 1000 euro in total.
