Many thanks for this info, we contacted them via email and they rang back straight away with a better quote than we had from others.

It's sometimes not just about getting a better quote, it's about getting the euros to your Italian bank fast, because someone in the family has been too busy to notice euros are needed subito!
We have tried another foreign exchange co. but find that with HIFX we can use our English bank Debit Card to draw sterling and the euros are sent by them pronto to our Italian bank. So look for best rate and fastest service.

We have two accounts one with HiFX and one with RationalFX and always get a quote from both when transferring more than £5k worth of euros. To date we have only ever used RationalFX as they always give us the best rate, no costs and the payment is normally there next day. However when you have been given a rate always push for a bit more i.e if they offer you 1.26 say you were looking for 1.265. They will of course respond they cannot do that, but then negotiate - I can almost guarantee you will get a better rate. Of course the larger the amount the bolder you can be in your negotaiations!
Any advice on brokers to transfer fund to Italy, who is offering best rates at present, not a good time I know, but needs must!
Although we have a card with moneycorp the rate they gave at the airport 2 weeks ago was very poor. we got better rates in Italy the next day.
I always use Smart Currency Exchange
Smart Currency Exchange: The Overseas Property FX Specialist in Money Exchange
They are very friendly, fast & flexible. You can always get to speak to the same person & they keep your details on file. I found that once I had transferred a largeish sum they give me the best rate for subsequent smaller sums. (I usually ring round to check :winki:) They respond quickly by email or phone, and will action a transfer without asking for tiresome paper confirmations.
Pip pip
Smart Currency exchange took their time....

We took up this recommendation for SMART from the Forum a few months ago. They offered us a slightly better rate but said that they could not take money from our account using our Direct Debit card and unfortunately the money took over a week to arrive into our Italian bank account.

This morning WorldWide Currencies gave me 1.275 on £5000, which seemed ok to me.
