Hi Tony! good luck to you in Cesena, it sounds like it's all going really well so far! And the language will come too, don't worry! We have some friends in that area, the people are so friendly there!
Thanks for the encouragement katier. I'm a bit blown away at the moment! I bought a second-hand old Italian table on Monday which arrived today, so I really feel like I have arrived!
Tony

You seem to have landed on your feet! Many congratulations - it sounds to me as if you have a really great attitude, and Cesena is a pretty superbly located place from which to travel and explore Italy (using public transport if you're not yet equipped with your own wheels).
I'm intrigued by your user name - we used to have a ynot (who, as I recall, and I could be wrong) was into amateur radio and spoke morse code! Are you British or American?
Get working on your Italian, and best of luck!

Assuming you're a Scouser (and ynot!) I say welcome to the forum and hope you will be forever happy.

Hi Tony
Sounds like you are doing just grand. Well done and good luck going forward. It's wonderful to hear someone so positive. If you get to Puglia do come and visit.

B*gger. I hadn't spotted that this ynot had admitted to originating in Liverpool!
I bet he doesn't do morse code...but then, why should he! He can trade in hubcaps!! (Sorry ynot, juliancoll will understand, and no doubt you will too!)

Who needs morse code when you can speak scouse lar? By God, you don't even need to learn Italian if ya can speak da secret lingo ov da Pool. :winki:

the thing is ... I was born in Bristol and moved to Liverpool in 1995. Having repaid my debt to society I decided it was time to move on. But yes I can 'yer ma' with the best of them, kidda la. For the record, crime levels in Liverpool are below those of Bristol ! I still have my Brizzle burr though ... I loves it, I do.
'ynot' - why not indeed. I don't know Morse code, although my ex-wife was into Inspector Morse in a big way (the programme, not John Thaw).
I think public transport here is fantastic. I paid €7 to get from Bologna to Cesena by train. I paid £62.60 to for a day return to London from Liverpool (it was £187 if I went before 08.30) ... anyway, let's not compare.
I WILL learn Italian for sure. I used to have a business in Romania and I managed to get by in Romanian.
Thank you all for your encouragement and kind words. It really makes a difference. Thanks also for this web site: I learned a lot from it.
Grazie, Tony

C'mon - 7 effing euros to get to Bologna. Youse was robbed! For a measly 3 euros more you could have been in Florence - explore and enjoy. Rome isn't that far (via Foligno - worth a stop!)

Charles - it's "you woz robbed lar". :winki:

Welcome! We pass Cesena every time on our way to Forli airport - it's about an hour from us. In fact, we were going to visit with some friends when the food festival was on a few weeks ago, alas it fell through on the morning of the trip due to illness. It sounds like you've landed on your feet. What made you move here and why Cesena in particular?

Ha ha - no! Believe it or not, the majority of the population of the UK lives outside London!! Actually I love going to London, it's a great city.

Hi, yes the food festival was on during my first weekend! It was good fun. In answer to your question I wanted to get away from the UK (twice divorced, fed-up with the weather and cultural decline, etc) and I had visited Italy several times and loved it. Also I have three kids in early 20s and I wanted somewhere within two hours flight from Liverpool. I chose Bologna because I really like the city, but wanted somewhere a bit smaller and so I am in Cesena. If you come to Cesena please let me know and we can have a coffee.
Thanks, Tony

That's cuz it's fulla Scousers. Come on, tell us more about why and how you ended up in Italy - did someone run you outta town - and can I have my hubcaps back now please? :winki:
EDIT; I cross posted over you so ignore this post - apart from the bit about my hubcaps.
