Oh my God! David Essex - now that's one man who could make any woman feel good!

I remember in 75(?), a friend and I went to see him in concert at the Liverpool Empire. After the show we ran like the wind to the stage door at the back of the theatre to try and catch a glimpse of my idol as he left. We waited and waited - but with no sign of him, eventually decided to leave. Just then, the stage door opened and our hopes rose only to be dashed again as out came a policeman.

"Oh well, lets go". said my friend.

"Not on your nelly". I said (well, OK I didn't use those words but you get the drift)

"Why not?"

"Look at that coppers socks" says I. "What bobby do you know that wears glittery socks?"

Mayhem instantly broke out, but we managed to jump in the van with the copper with the sparkly socks. It was indeed David Essex - and for the only time in my life - I was starstruck and couldn't say a bloody word! :swoon:

We both got autographs and a peck on the cheek from Mr Essex - and I didn't wash my face for at least a month! :laughs:

I was only "a blue jeaned baby queen" in those days Gander - but I would have "climbed up the drainpipe" to have had the confidence then, that age, wisdom and a few wrinkles bring now - I'd still be in that van and it would be "Rock(in') On" as I held him "close and never let him go".

But then, Marc Bolan was also in my sights - and I became a "Child of the Revoltution" - which is something that has kinda stayed with me I guess. :bigergrin:

Feel good, not just because it is spring, but because I actually mangaed to grow these, without killing them:eeeek:.

The clematis was originally grown 15 years ago in grannies house in Sidmouth. Brother-in-law took a cutting to Cambridge about 10 years ago and then five years later to some relatives in Spain. Year before last, a cutting came to Italy! Now that is what I call a well travelled clematis.

The clematis is amazing, can't grow one here at all (627 mts) You are a clever girl!!! Loved the feel good photos!

Beautiful clematis Persephone - if you can send me a few cuttings - I will put another £10 in the kitty. Just bought a passion flower so keeping my fingers crossed - so far so good and we are at 500m.

Just a thought - maybe we could all swap cuttings for a donation to the earthequake fund?

Rather than swap, sell the cuttings???

It looks like a Montana type of clematis, I used to have one in my garden in West London, and they are lovely. Complimente you clever girl!!

We also brought stuff from the UK too, my daughters little seedling trees (doing very nicely thankyou) a Rhodo. which was bought to remember the dead pet rabbit (variety Sleepy!!), unfortunately not doing so well and a couple of Camelias....this is the sweet bit!!

I had a Camelia in my house in West London, new bloke who is 'still here' bloke had a Camelia in Greenwich. And yes, they were the same size, although not the same variety and they now stand proudly together either side of the door outside one of our cottages. :smile:

The pink one seems to prefer it here much more than the white, really difficult to keep this one healthy despite, chelated iron, special food etc. It doesn't seem to like being at 500 metres and we have to keep them outside during the winter, although they are covered with fleece.

The violets, just another feel good flower - they were lovely this year.

Just spent the day planting 100 geraniums - wish my back had that feel good feeling:yes:

An elderly Italian couple celebrated yesterday after rescuers searching through earthquake rubble retrieved 500,000 euro stuffed into jam jars. The money represented the life savings of the couple... from San Gregorio.....

Grow like weeds, indeed. I'll have you know Charles, that I made special little incubators (ice cream tubs and freezer bags) for my little cuttings and I chatted to them every day!:chatterbox:.

I did that once too, years ago. Planted my little 'plug pots' with what I thought were itsy bitsy 'new' plants. Nurtured them, chatted to them and watched them grow .......into strong healthy (bi-lingual) [B]weeds![/B] (the [U][I]plants[/I][/U] had died).

You know, song is a such beautiful way to express how you feel, and at the moment we are all (I think) feeling pretty good here. If it has been a difficult couple of weeks for us - just imagine what it has been - and continues to be like, for the Abruzzesi!

I know many of you watched this video last week and admitted that this is [U][I]not[/I][/U] a show you would normally watch. Susan Boyle was incredible and is clearly on the road to stardom.

But last night there was another surprise for viewers. Another quiet, unassuming contestant who came on stage just as Simon Cowell had thrown a tantrum due to the poor quality of the acts, and had only just been 'coaxed' back. His face says it all on how bad tempered he was.

But stick with it... if Susan made you cry, then Julian (this one is called Smith, not Coll) will perhaps do the same with this haunting melody from West Side story. This will - I promise - make you feel good!
